Big Hammer swimbaits ROCK

Last year for the first time I started fishing with some of the larger model Big Hammer lures. I rigged up a number of larger swimbaits with a second (stinger) hook.

I was noticing that some of the swimbaits had started to delaminate between the layers, causing them to split at or near the leadhead. Not all, but a few of them. I used a lighter and tried to fix them with some success.

Last week I thought I would email the company and ask if I had done something wrong in the assembly or if they had problems. I used the general mailbox linked off their website. Used those contacts a dozen times before where I had NO response whatsoever.

Within minutes (literally) I received a lengthy response from the owner of the company, Pete Wolf. Pete indicated they had a problem in manufacturing involving some lower grade plastic (basically he got screwed, but thats not the point here). They have since changed back to what was originally used. Offered to replace my lost product at no charge and today, I received a box with not only the replacement baits but an additional 20 (TWENTY) swimbaits in colors I chose.

Now Pete Wolf doesn't know me from Adam. But he obviously cares about his business, his company's reputation and people in general. He followed through and that shows class. Good customer service shouldn't be a surprise but unfortunately thats whats happened.

For me, that other swimbait company can kiss my ass. I ordered some stuff from them and was promised some swag and got stiffed. Won't be trapped that way again.

Thanks Big Hammer!

A little customer service sure makes loyal customers.

Kevin, how are you setting up the second hook?

Yea Big Hammers rock and Pete Wolfe is a very good guy. Funny you would mention the lighter deal to piece them back together. Over the years on the Big Hammer Q105 8 day skiff trip we have played around with using a lighter to come up with new color combinations. The result of our most successful experimenting is the Big Hammer "Darkside" color. Give it a try you may like it.

Hey Rod,

this technique from the Big Hammer site works; although I like to put the trailer about an inch in from the tail.

http://www.swimbait.com/techniques/basics.htm

You will see one here with a three hook setup. I use this setup some; my two hook setup leaves out that last hook in the tail:

You can get them at Noah's Tackle I reccommend them Johnny, because they care about their customers, just like Big Hammer does.

Also, check the website out for some Great Deals on discontinued colors.

Outstanding, Kevin. I'm now an expert at putting a trap hook on my swimbaits.

Thanks, bro'.

They offer the best colors and best quality baits. I try to use BH swimbaits exclusively when available. The lead heads are the shit too.

Duke,

Pete says to remind you that those trips also resulted in a new size swimbait, the 5.5. I haven't tried them yet but Pete tells me the action on the new baits is better than any he has ever seen. Can't wait to start throwin' em!

Pete is a great guy. Big Hammer is now one of the sponsors on my surf fishing site and Pete donates alot of Big Hammer products to give away for our monthly contests.
