Trout worms

I am having a hell of a time rigging the trout worms and liprippers.

I can do the split hot thing but the action sucks, also a saw a guy using a egg sinker, swivel and then leader , then casting out and reeling like hell

I thought they were to be slowely jigged like for bass could someone help with the easiest way to rig and use for small lakes..I like to use them but would like to hook up as well

Thanks for all the help
