Rock cod ganions

Maybe someone can help me. I ve been building my own rock cod rigs and cant seem to get it right. How long should the ganions be? They twist and I have a swivel? Ive been making 4 and 5 hook setups but I see guys fishing more with less tangle than I have? Please help!

Go up to Morro Bay and catch a fish on every drop - in less than 100ft of water. Who the hell needs a ganion?

A friend of mine I fish with in SQ makes 4 and 5 hook ganions and kills the bottom fish. I was just curious how to build them correctly. I have built a few but they dont seem to work as well as Ive seen others

When I pull 2 dropper loops together I don't like them to be able to lock up on each other. I like about 5" of space between the loops when pulled at each other. I now secure the hooks onto the loop with a Palomar. Keeps the hook on the loop without any slack that can get caught onto the eye of the hooking causing break off. Misuse taught me something.

That's about it. 4 spread apart. I like about a 10' top shot the rest spectra. I do not use straight spectra because spectra has poor abrasion resistance and does not hold up well rubbing on rocks.

I use big mustad hooks.

Use a white or blue and chrome jig on the bottom instead of a weight. Put squid on all of the hooks on the jig treble hook. Just in case there is a white seabass in the neighborhood. Put uni butter on the bait that is on the rest of your hooks. If you have lots of money put light sticks on your rig also. Canned herring oil also works as an attractant. good luck.

Where do you place the light sticks? What size and how exactly do you place them on? Tried this with some little ones this last saturday. Not sure how it worked but we did get into some reds.
