you should be fine. you might also try using a lighter line so the fish won't see it

6 lb test isnt light enough

you know when fishing halibut there is always a chance of hooking a 20 lber

but im using a curado 200 and a abu that holds more than the curado so thats at least 200 yds of 6

and im thinking p-line but i dont know line that light very well.....any suggestions

drum

What kind of drums do you play?

From a float tube, you don't want to use heavy line anyway. If you hook a big one it would tow you to Hawaii. Better to go light and get broke off than have to kick in 3000 miles.

The lowest I fish is 10# for halibut. I've seen some big buts get pulled in on 10# & 12# though.

Nothing less than 25lb, if they don't want to eat it then fuck it they really aren't bitting IMO.
JMO and you light line guys can spend 10-20 minutes on a 10 lb fish.
I'm arrogant because of this? Fine!
When I find bitters I wanna put fish on the boat instead of screwing around with just 1-2 fish, The tide change is usually quick when they go off!
Thats why I get 4-8-10 fish when others get 2.
When searching for touchy fish 8-10 lb test under unfavorable conditions you will catch and I will not even get bit.
Just a fact of life, and there is no ego here.
I'll be at the dock before you land your first ...
If I wanna fish light line I'll be fishing trout/bass at jennings or some other lake.
What would happen if you hook a 20+ lb yellow or a threasher?
You'd hardly know you were bit.
Each his own, then get owned JMO.

Some of us don't measure our fun by the number of fish in the boat.

Well, you don't seem to under stand or read very well---
I'm arrogant because of this? Fine!
When I find bitters I wanna put fish on the boat instead of screwing around with just 1-2 fish, The tide change is usually quick when they go off!
Thats why I get 4-8-10 fish when others get 2.
So read it again and don't pick on me.
Round is a shape BTW lol
My boat is about #'s of fish and having fun.
You don't like it, then fine...
I wasn't flamming you yet.
You wanna drift around for hours for a couple fish? Thats fine by me. If you read my post I want action or nothing ok.
So even though I state my truth you still find me arrogant.
Well you need to understand my views and the way I fish.
This is the internet, and I post a point-- my point.
Some like it, others don't.
My fun is bloody decks not a cooler full of empties.
This is BD so whats your fucking problm anyways?
OUT

Personally, I can't catch halibut for shit. Unless I am not trying. But 6# test for anything besides back bay fishing is crazy IMO, unless your are just playing around.

Be careful Kep, you are not gonna get any rep points....

But you don't really give a shit, now do ya?

For not giving a shit about rep, I will give you some. Rep.
