i spearfish but i just keep close for corbina and calicos and sometimes halibut i dont do the gnarley kelpbeds or anything

yea i only dive for perch, bass, sheepshead and halibut
im not crazy going down 60 feet and stuff

I live on Camp Pendleton, and I did a little Spearfishing when I was stationed in Okinawa 3 years ago, but nothing serious. I always used borrowed or rented gear, but a decent H.S. can be had pretty cheap out here. If i was to try it out here, I would just hit the beach here on base in the surf. I know there are TONS of nice fish out there. If anyone is looking to get rid of any old gear, let me know.

Ever freedive offshore paddys? really cool to have Yellowtail, dorado, and tuna come gliding by, sometimes as close as 5 ft. take your pick. one time in the middle of a wfo albie bite, my friend grabs his riffe gun and slips in, as I'm brailing chum, albies to 30 lb are crashing all around him. He opens fire and nails one, i thow him another gun and he nails 1 more. another time i speared a 25 lb dodo in ca waters and after eating it was informed that the state record was around 15 lbs. If the fish have lockjaw we can usually get dinner with the gun----Bajabum
