Help guys info needed. I have not been in so cal in a while, and I am wondering what Squid Co's price for a Avet 50 topless is? I know they always have good prices in the store, lower than the web from my past experience. Reason for the question is I am schedued on a 10 day Nov trip and I am wondering should i wait till i get to So Cal the day before and buy the reel from them or order one thru the web. Will I save enough over the web via sales tax/shipping or would it be better to wait?
Jay

Jay , check the prices on Charkbait.com They normally have good prices and sometimes include free shipping and or spooling of your choice , and also at times other incentives , be sure to check the weekly specials aswell. good luck on your search and thank you !

I had the silver topless 50 in hand on wed. Joey wil give you $20 off towards store credit, like spectra. It's around $480 (I think) for that reel but call 222-8955. Squidco doesn't carry Izorline spectra.
I've ordered them Charkbait before. Mark and Tom are good guys. When you order something and they give you a delivery date, call the next day to make sure it has shipped. Both times I ordered, the delivery was fouled up.

Guys thanks for the info, I am still having a tackle dilima. I want I want I want(Avet 50 nar toplees and the Avet LX/JX 2 speed), but I can only afford one rod and reel at this time.... I have already looked a charkbait for some time now, and their prices are good. I will give Squid Co a call and see what they have to say.
Also on taking the wife in a tackle store, my wife rocks she doesn't want me to go cheap on something and then want to replace it 6 months down the road. So I buy the right gear the first time for me, not because it is cheaper. Now don't get me wrong I am not made out of money, and I shop around for the best bang for my $$$ and type of fishing.

Jay | If Squidco has it, their prices are better than Charkbaits 99% of the time and you don't have to pay for shipping. Like another poster said, shipping problems are common (they charge your CC right away but don't ship for days or weeks at times). Don't get me wrong, I WILL buy stuff from Charkbait but only if one of the local shops that I frequent doesn't have what I am looking for.
It's nice going in to Squidco or Noah's and being greeted by name. Beats e-commerce hands down.

...and it's not that the wife doesn't rock, it's that when you've bought your tenth reel and they (she) gets out there in the garage (now knowing how much they cost) and starts to add up your quiver and then starts talking about one of the following (pick your wife's poison):
- new car
- kitchen remodel
- how long it's been since she's been shopping (which my wife does even though I tell her to take my Nordi's card and stop whinning)
- the kids need new shoes......
... and to make sure there's no misunderstandings, my best x-mas present under the tree was a Penn 16s goldie from Ms. Claus and I bought my boat on our first date.... "what restaurant are we going to?" "a little place up in Encinitas" "what's it called?" "I'm not sure yet, we'll find it after we look at a boat" "Look at what....?" Tight lines !!
