| Bloody gulp
We are going to the Silver Strand for a family get together on Saturday. I picked up some bloody gulp plastic looking blood worms. Any ideas on how to rig it? Do I use it whole? I usually just use sandcrabs, but they might be hard to find so.......

slide a 3/8 - 3/4 oz. or so egg sinker on line, tie swivel, tie on about a size 2 or so hook on about a 18 - 24" leader and attach to swivel . i like a baitholder hook with barbs on a longer shank. you can use whole worm for larger fish, or smaller pieces for smaller fish. i just thread the worm on the hook like a swimbait, not much to get snagged on. good luck, and post results.

Hey Frank... if your gonna fish the strand.. go south of the State beach.. Once in front of the bridge.. start looking for the rips...
They put a sandbar right off the Bridge... and it seems that just south (maybe 100yds or less) of it there are some Nice holes.... Never see much at the State park or north into the Phib Base (which is offlimits anyway).
Good luck let me know how ya do.... I'm thinking of spending some time throwing grubs at hightide in front of the house soon!

I fished the strand years ago just south of the bridge to the cays. I scored alot of perch that were full of babies. there was also alot of sand crabs. I have been wanting to try it recently but havn't really heard much until now. might give it a try this sat. morning ? anyone ?

Flat calm in the AM, ate my machaca breakfast on the beach and watched the dolphins play in the small surf, life is good.
Water was dirty and cold. The Bloody gulp I think would work great under different conditions. Torrey pines would be the best. It was low tide and there werent any cuts in the beach. No sandcrabs. I couldnt walk off and go exploring, it got crowded. We were packing up around 4, sorry Vince, the monkey meat was kickin.
We did find this wierd guy in the low tide line. Never seen one like this before. Released.
That Bloody gulp made my fingers smell.....

I've been doing really well in Del Mar the last 2 weeks, had 5 yellowfin croaker last Wed. night. I like the gulp worms a lot, but found that the natural color works MUCH better while it's daylight. The bloody color seems to work very very well once the sun goes down. But, to be honest, the worm i'm getting the best action on is a Renegade 4" w/ a twirl tail in motor oil w/ red flake... $1.17 for 20 at Wal Mart. . Get more hits than the $6 for 10 Gulps. Just my .02. Anyone wants to fish Del Mar, let me know, I'm out most nights and have caught no less than 5 fish in any one evening I've been.
