Anyone gonna fish the grunion run tonight or tomorrow? I'm gonn hit the coronado ferry landing and if that doesn' produce then it's over to the beach on the ocean side but if those two fail then it's off to mariners point. I'll be checking this post till about 10:30 for replys or suggestions. This is the last grunion run we can use them for live bait on till may.

I've never done it before, I might be up for it tomorrow. I'm guessing you grab them while their sqirming on the beach, pin um to a hook and toss it into what I can only imagine is a feeding frenzy? What kind of gear do you use? What could I expect to catch?

Ive never fished during a gronion run.
Gronion are tasty,scalem,gutem,headem,deep fryem, MMMM.

I fish them carolina rigged with 1oz. sliding egg sinker on 15lb. test or fly lined in the surf or clost to shore in the bay, pinned through the nostril, although tonight I might try a trap rig for the halibuts. If they don't run tonight in coronado then I'll try farther north tomorrow night.

someone suggested that MB might be good as the grunion do come into the bays and the hali's get real close.
