Hey guys and girls, I know I haven't been around the fishing season much but as long as the birds are flying I don't care how good the fishing is! Bird season finally ended on sunday for me in Nebraska, every spring I head back to the midwest to chase snow geese during the special spring snow/blue goose hunt. This hunt is a joint effort between Canadian Wildlife Officials and the US Fish and Wildlife service to lower the light goose (snows and blues) population that is running at almost 300% above historic numbers.
We hunted a total of 7 days, 4 freelancing 3 guided, we as a group shot 180 or so snow geese
We started in N/W Missouri, the hunting here was tough, we shot 38 in the first 4 days
Here's a pic of a refuge, the white in the center is part of the 150,000 geese the refuge held
Some of our decoys
Here's Stuart with a few
Dropping off the trailer at our friends farm in Missouri
We moved into Nebraska for more/better shooting!!
Another look at the spread
Jeff with a double banded blue goose!
Robert with a few
We ended up with 22 or so for the day, it's now clean up time clean up time
We moved 60 miles to the west, it got MO better!
Bigger Spread
Gary with a few!
The score for the day, Dennis on the right has another banded goose, sweet!
We went back to the well for a second day, this is a big gamble when hunting snows, it paid off. The next bunch of pics are working birds!!!
Stuart with the carnage from the day. Two more banded geese, my goose on the right has a collar which is very rare, 1 out of every 150,000 are collared.
Stacked on almost ready to head back to California!!
ENJOY!!!!!!!
