Was wanting to pick up either a Saltist 40 or 50 at Fred Halls.....No deals. $169, 179, 189 respectively for the 30,40,50(Turner's). On line stores they are 159, 169, 179.. A NIB Saltist 50 can be had for $155 delivered to your house from Har-lee Rod. Wanted to pick up a Seeker BCS6470 or Calstar 700M, again no deals on these as well. Went Squidco today and grabbed a 6470 for the same price as was being offered at the show yesterday (no nicks or dings though). The guys at Squidco said they will have some Saltist in next week, in the $150-165 range. Overall I did not see too many hot deals with the exception of beer @ $6.50 a pop. Had a great time though.

Shit that's cheaper than it was in Long Beach. $8 and $10 beers there.

Agree. So I don't go anymore. I wonder if they realize more and more have these feel this way? Nahhh... not until it dies.

I agree. I still go anyway. I like checkin' out the boats & seein' what's new in tackle.

I'll be lookin' for those ringed Flyliner Pro Packs & Gamakatsu Octopus, tho.

And I'll rummage through the same batch of reels Bob's tackle has been trying to unload for the past few years. They won't budge an inch, and neither will the reels at above retail for used gear....

And I'll go ogle the gals at the Bongos booth...

And I'll ogle the Silicone Barracudas lurking around the Big Buck boats...

And ya never know... that DEAL just might reach out & grab...

Boil! BOIL!! HOOOOOKUUUUP!

As far as deals go they are harder to find every year. I remember years ago in addition to the deals there were some nice give aways.

Deals

The Davis Bahia 25' was a nice boat. Actually liked it a bit better than the Farallon. Can be had for $74K or $85K w/260 HP diesel.

Seems to be that the manufacture's are setting the pricing guidelines instead of the retailers. Not too many deals to be had on Shimano, Daiwa, Penn, Calstar, Seeker, Progear, etc.. Kinda blows the whole theory of drop the 30-50% margine by 20 and make up for it in volume thing. Selling stuff at MSRP at a big show like this is BS.
