Passport question

i know you must have a passport to for mexico. whats the deal on the boats out of san diego say any that go fishing in mexico 1-2 multi day. are they requiring a passport??? thanks

Boats are no issue. If you get sick or have to return home by some other means; that's where the problem starts.

overheard a guy asking about getting a passport at the post office last week. clerk asks if he was going to mexico, answer yes. oh you don't need them yet they extended the time frame on that. don't know if that is true but thats what I heard.

The coast guard does some crazy monitoring of boats entering/leaving mexico. They will know if you hot land or not or even another boat.

You can get a passport card ( for Mexico) very easily. It's a one stop shop if you were born here in San Diego County. I finished the whole process; birth crertificate, photo and all, at the San Diego County Recorders Office on Pacific Hwy. in less than an hour, and had my passport card in three weeks. Total cost of $62.00. If you want a book passport (good for flying to other countries) it costs an additional $60.00. Remarkably easy and fairly inexpensive as these things go, and outstanding service at the County Recorders Office.
