I am 1 mile from San berdo county with no lux tax for boats
It isn't a luxury tax. It's based on 1.2% of your boats assessed value, similar to your house.
My boat is taxed in San Bernardino County and my partner and I paid $864 for our boat tax. San Bernardino is just as brutal as all the rest.
A way to get out of it is to store or register your boat out of the state. Another option is to go document your vessel with the Coast Guard.

Wait for the unsecured tax bill.

Mine was $780 this year.

The DMV just lubes it for you. The Tax assessor drives it home.
