| Colorado River license requirements
Hey all,
Got a specific question that I have not been able to get an answer to:
When fishing the Colorado river, on the California side, on the CRIT reservation, will your state fishing license suffice, or are you required to get a CRIT reservation license?
I've made a couple calls to the DFG and the dodos that I talked to couldn't give me a straight answer and said they would research it and call me back. Needless to say, I didn't get a call back.
Anybody know the answer to this question?

My understanding is if you are on shore, the applicable shore license is all you need. In a boat you need the applicable shore license and a river stamp from the other side of the river. This advise could also get you a big ticket.

I just got back from the lower river and if you fish from a boat you need a river stamp on your CA fishing lic but if you fish any of the lakes on the AZ side you need a AZ lic. The stripers are bitting really good at night on the river.

If the lake is part of the river, like martinez, the stamp should be good as long as you are in your boat. Write that in sand.

If you're only fishing from shore on the CA side, then no you do not need a river stamp.
If you are in a boat then yes.

Go to a DFG office and buy a colorado river stamp, they are only a few bucks. Not exactly sure if you need it to fish from shore, but I usually get one when I buy my lic anyway.

I asked the local Warden down there about this. He said with a ca fishing license and the stamp you can fish either side of the river..and you can fish any back water and from shore. The border is split down the middle. $3 stamp ain't shit.
If you fish the reservation you have to buy a separate license from them.

that is corect mike if fishing from shore you only need ca. lic. if on a boat you need a special colorado river stamp if you fish from the indians property you need a lic from them.be carefull because some parts of the river that you think is california its actually arizona, be safe and just buy the triple stamp.

Thanks! I was most concerned with what to do when on Indian land. As I figured I should just keep buying the Indian lic. which ends up costing about $20 for the weekend. But I go about 3 times a year, so that adds up. All well, I mostly go to camp and get away, fishing is just a bonus. Quote:
