thanks, and thanks Alan and Ron, I'll try different line. A lot of good football and W Series to watch on my couch this weekend so I'll be tying a few knots and maybe tying one on, haha.
Sorry for the delay,ya thats it.Good luck.I have broke Powerpro before but it was used in heavy structure[breakwall] and it like ALL spectra has zero abrasion resistance.

The dirty truth

While I believe the statements of "the pena /albright has never let me down", that is probably on the water talk and not bench testing. To really know what your connections fail at, you need to test them with a scale.

Tie off straight mono and pull to break. I used 25 p-line. My San Diego knotts broke @ 32 - 35lbs, trilene 40 - 42lbs and never at the knott. Now I would want my connection to be at least as strong or close to that. The dirty truth is that it won't.

When I bench tested the Pena connection (65lb spectra / 25 lb P-line), 90% of the time it broke at the knott, in the Spectra @ 25-32 lbs, just like you! Tie it wrong and you will be even more dissappointed. I did the same thing using 120lb spectra and 80lb test, same results exponentially. You will not get a knott connection to hold @ the same # breaking as straight mono.
