I do 7-12 wraps down and up.I will say that laying the spectra wraps very tight together when doing this will help when you get ready to pull the knot tight.I think powerpro is the best I have tried. When you make your overhand knot with the flouro make sure its cinched down very tight.

Pena Knot

Matt, is this the same way you do the Tony Pena?
thanks, and thanks Alan and Ron, I'll try different line. A lot of good football and W Series to watch on my couch this weekend so I'll be tying a few knots and maybe tying one on, haha.

Matt is on the mark here. I have tied a thousand fluoro to Power pro knots and never had one break.

I think the "free" part of your braid might be the problem.

Eric, heres the chinaman for you to practice, should not take you too long. Its an easy union.

OK, much better results now, thanks, cinching down the fluoro knot tight before laying the spectra raps and keeping the wraps close and tight reducing the "free" did the trick. I also wrapped the spectra over both the tag end and the leader similar to the modified albright but with the overhand knot like the tony pena. Im overloaded with info right now and the china man would put me over the top so Im going to put that one in the bullpen for now.
thanks again

You are lubricating your knots BEFORE you cinch them tight, aren't you?
