Leopard sharks in Mexico???

Hi everyone,

I am a graduate student studying leopard shark behavior and population structure. I'm trying to acquire tissue samples (fin clips) from leopard sharks in Mexico to do a population genetics study.

Have you caught any leopard sharks in Mexico or know where they can be found? I am particularly interested in southern Baja and the Gulf of California, but all leads on leopard sharks in Mexico (even as close to the US as Ensenada) would be very helpful. Thanks for your help!

take a drive to ensenaada and visit the fish market. Im sure they will let you take all the clippings you need. Good luck

go to the major estuaries As far south as you can go with appropriate gear to handle the big ones in the current. like 30-50 braid on a conventional reel

thanks nate, have you seen the leopards in Mexico yourself? Any specific locations you would recommend?
