I've been out on the Vagabond twice, on a 5 day to Guadalupe 2 years ago, and on a 5 day to Cedros last year. It's not the most posh boat in the fleet, but it's very fishy, and Mike the skipper is great. Their prices tend to be a bit more reasonable than some boats too. I'd go without hesitation. Good fishing!

dont miss that trip. Vagabond is a very very capable boat.......and there is no more FISHY skipper in the fleet. I have ridden many of the bigger boats, and when I do, its not unusual for the Vag to be fishing right next to us.
I have ridden with Mike Lackey about 6 times.....each time I was impressed with the service. Its not the RP, but I think you will enjoy it.

I have never seen a bad report on the Vagabond or her crew. I fished her in 2004 on a 3.5 day trip and had a great time. The skipper (Mike) is a great guy and works hard to make everyone happy. It's a smaller boat than most of the long rangers. 7 days is a long time you may want to go see it before you go.

Just got back from a 5 day on the RP and it ended wayyyyyyy to soon love the fishing. fished a 78 foot boat when i first moved out here on roof water and it was a bitch. Do you think its to small to enjoy going to the rocks?? Or for that matter is it to slow and you wouldnt get much fishing in?

wtf is "roof water"? ROUGH water? I have been in "roof weather" while onboard the Vag on a 7 day........it wasnt bad.....if you didnt need sleep.
Look, its a great boat......but if your fragile, maybe you better stick to the RP.
weather is weather. if it gets uncomfortable on a 75 foot boat, its going to be uncomfortable on a 105 foot boat.

Isnt what this is supposed to be about??? | yes it is.....that is why I am trying to give you objective information. Some guys (and gals) cant handle rough weather.......not judging them, just making an observation. (not dissing you.....I dont like rough weather either, but I dont make my trip decisions on what the weather is like......you can pretty much count on it being kinda rough on your way back up the line.)
I think you are placing too much of your decision making in the length of the boat......yep, its smaller than many of the LR fleet.....but it rides well.

Vag is great a outfit on short or long runs. The boys work thier butts off making sure your time on the water is top notch. Mel runs a tight ship and Gordo, Ryan, Tim not a better team on the water. Dan in the galley does it up fine. 7 day coming at the end of the month. |
