| Braided lines to Mono
Tired of having the tackle store tie my top shot.
Anyone know where I can look-up spliceing knots on the net?
I have heard the Stren knot will work. Anyone knows how to tie it? Thanks, Gary

Gary, there is a spectra lecture at Pacific Edges on Feb 10th I think. Look it up in tips and tech. On the P E web site there is a free sign up sheet. Other than that if you are ever in Newport the anglers ctr, I have asked a few times how to tie a bimini and an albright knot. They showed me no questions asked, just come over here and let me show you. It's pretty basic once you have seen it done and tried it a few times.

Here is the Braid Leader Knot, which is also known as the Worm Knot. This is the knot that alot of the Long Range Boats tie.
I use it on everything up to 80lb. Never had the knot fail.
Here's the link http://braidproducts.com/knots.html

Can the SEAGUAR knot be used for spectra to mono?

IMHO the uni to uni is the best, quick fast, fairly strong, it is the connection I use for world record fishing, all my bro's use it for WW fishing to.....but here is a list I put together of every single connection I could think of....Note there is a difference between a porperly tied uni and an improperly tied uni, the inproper one breaks...if you get the 2 uni's to butt up against each other you got it right
Uni to Uni
Boots worm
modified sheet bend (Used with any loop)
Loop to Loop (Used with any loop)
Albright
Blood
Improved blood knot
Huffnagle knot
Jam knot
Jam hitch
Larrys jam knot
Backing to fly line (No reall name)
Mono to cable (No reall name)
Double nail knot
Shocker knot
Sosins no name
surgeons knot
Superbraid to mono (No real name similar to Boots worm)
Superbraid blood
Superbraid surgeons
Sheet bend
One way sheet bend
fishermens knot
Double fishermens knot
Figure eight bend
Carrick bend
Ashleys bend
Rogers bend
Harness bend
Water knot
nail knot
Needle knot
Square knot......l o l
Surgeons knot 2
I know theres more, l must have forgotten some and not know some....

| Seagar Knot
Seaguar knots and the like dont work. The Spectra is too "slick", it will pull out not break. The best connection for 80lb and under is a loop connection on the spectra end ( Bimini Twist or similar) and a worm knot coneccting the Mono to the Loop. Over 80lb I'd look to the Loop to Loop connection. Either make your own loop connections with hollow spectra or buy pre looped top shots and wind-ons.
The Bimini in my opinion is an essential knot. Most "helpful" shops will show you how to do it yourself. Like R.T. said once you see the Bimini Twist a few times you'll get the hang of it.
Good Luck

I was mistaken, if you are interested on a spectra seminar look in event/forums for spectra seminar. There is a link to Pacific edge where you can sign up on line.

All knots tying mono to spectra will fail.Especiall when tying the worm knot out of Floro. The best connection hands down is the hollow splice crimp and or glue connection.
At the seminar we are having at Pacific Edge Gary Sato who makes the crimp kit will be a guest speaker and also David Choate aka wahoodad will be a speaker.Better sign up quick as I have 32 people allready on the list and it will be limited to around 45 people.
I do have to aggre with aquahero the uni uni is the knot I have had the best success or better yet but you need a splicing tool is the nail knot. This still doesnt eleviate the fact that the knots have to be tied perfect, or one little cross in the lines and the knot will fail.

What I have been doing is tying them and leaving them way up the line, then I really wet the knot and all the line that the knot has to slide down with spit, then with my fingers I grab one of the knots and slide it to about half inch from the other line, and do the same with the other knot. I lube it again and pull them tight. They seem to but up against each other perfectly every time, I have a friend who was just tying and synching, he broke off 7 or 8 topshots of 19 feet of fluro.......I broke off none, and acught a 24 pound ling

I have never had a uni to uni fail or break...plus they are small enough to be able to go through the guide rather easily.
