at least 60 lb, seems the party boat captains prefer it (get the fish in quick bring the school with it), i trolli a little lighter line than that from my boat. as far as reels, how much money do you want to spend ? 6/0 being inexpensive, a tld 25, then the 2 speeds.

I troll with 30 size, 2 speed, Tiagras & TLD's with 50 or 60 lb test. I used to use 6/0's until I upgraded. For most of the stuff in these waters you do not need heavy gear unless you're chasing the big boys.

TLD 25 with Spectra.

Still fun for decent size troll fish and still has the drag and yardage for as big of a fish as you'll catch here.

2 speeds are total overkill for our area......

The biggest fish you are likely to catch is a striper and they are a blast on straight 30.

Save the gold for PV or East Cape.

I used 40lb on Penn 4/0's for 5 years and never had a problem.
Prefer a narrow spool.

Baja Special with spectra backing and 40-50lb leader. Or a regular 4/0. Troll fish don't count anyways
