surface iron rod?

looking to pick up a rod to throw some surface iron and maybe a little bait. i would like too keep around 9ft (10 ft is too difficult for me for stroage and travel). i am planning to match it with either an avet lx (single speed) or an accurate 665 (single speed) - both of which i own already. i have narrowed it down to the
seeker black steel ULUA
calstar 900H
super seeker 6490

i will probably fish 40-50lb. i am 6'5" so i am not as worried about wt but i like the idea of using a composite vs fiberglass for this purpose. other concerns i have are - will the stock rod clamp fit over all of these rods with the reels i have? i dont have a local shop to check this out. i plan on just buying the rod and taking it on the boat.
thanks for any help

My son and I each have a SS 6490 and they're great rods rated at 30-50#. The 6490 matches up to a 28mm Cork Puppy (I know that Charkbait has them for $20) and I'd highly recommend getting one for whichever reel you're using.

I am 6'2" and The ULUA 93H in The Super Seeker Model is a jig flinging machine. IMHO.

how much different is the SS vs the blacksteel ULUA - i.e. is it worth the xtra $1-200?

The SS-Ulua 93-H will be awesome for your purposes. Well worth the $ over a black steel.
Not just my opinion, but many others...

Have you checked out the Calstar 6480? I know you're looking composite 9' but this is one of the best iron throwers ever made. Many long rangers using this to throw iron for Wahoo and everything else. Just a thought good luck.

I just had a Calstar GG-90J wrapped by Saltydawg and I love it. Caught 5 fish on it at Cedros last week. You really have to throw larger jigs with it (e.g. 7x) as it's a bit heavy for lighter jigs like tady 45's.

There's another seeker blank that he's wrapped for a couple of people and they really love it. I think it's the SJ-90F. It's a bit softer than the GG-90J.

Of course, you can always go with the old standby and get a glass 90J as well.

I have a 6480 that I've killed plenty of fish with but after throwing a 9 footer it's probably gonna end up being used as an 8' 40# bait rod.
