I usually like to have a sportie anchor next to me - generally makes my fishing better.

Happens once in a while. Showed em' a 38lb king once. Captain just fired it back up and went away. Guess he didn't want his customers to think they should be gettin fish that big.

hard to tell by the picture, you were there and it "felt" too close,so probably was. the chum would'nt hurt, but whatever . i was halibut fishing friday at angle island and the happyhooker pulls up next to me and i mean next to me. i must of been on one of his "secret spots" cuz he was trying to push me off. two of my lines got hung up in his customer's lines and the deck hand promply cut my line ! what an asshole ! i moved to avoid a confrintation, but he was out of line! you'd think a "professional" would show a little more curtesy.

Let me quess Oceanside 95 ?
Looks like it, I saw the same thing on Saturday. Poor guy is set up on kelp anchored. Sporty came in so close I thought he ran over his anchor line! then he set his anchor and drifts right next to the guy!! I mean RIGHT next to him!
Do that to them and see what happens!

50 yards is fairly close. The regulars fishing iron off the bow are well within striking distance. I know that boat too...lol.

Thats not bad at all. I was on a sportie and they pulled up on a Private and I kid you not.. could have tossed a beer to them.
Looks close enough to use their chum, far enough to leave them the seadogs!
