Watching the news last night the weatherman said there is an El Nino definatly building off of Baha and should definatly warm our waters and possibly bring much needed rain. Anybody else see that? Or was I just dreaming. Could make for an interesting Summer and Fall season.
I dunno, I've been hearing about el nino then la nina back and forth. the biggest thing I'm seeing is this lingering persistant winterish weather pattern this year. Seems like last time we had one of these it was rougher off shore than it has been lately with more Blue Fin Tuna, Yellowtail and albie.....less dodo Yellow Fin Tuna or none at all. Who knows should be interesting
We are in a transition between nina and nino, but it remains to be seen if the el nino will build enough to significantly affect our fishing this year. I expect a pretty average year with good albacore/bluefin early and good yellowfin in the fall. It's important to realize that el nino and la nina conditions are dependant on SST's in the equatorial pacific el nino regions ONLY. One degree above normal throughout the region qualifies as an el nino, but that might not affect us all that much way up here even if it does develop.
