Smile Braided fishing line

I have used mono line forever and I am looking to change to braided line. What is the best brand out there that will hold a strong knot when tied. All suggestions welcome.

Depends on what your using it on. For a baitcaster I like Samurai. bigger stuff Suffix. I also have Tuff Line on some things and knots are knot a problem there either.

JB Line One is what I prefer. As for knots, I'll assume you are fishing Indiana, a double uni works well to attach mono to Spectra.

i like power pro, as for knots... i know how to tie a lot of them, but only use three. most dependable and easy to tie is the palomar

I like Power Pro for my baitcasters and JB or Izor for offshore stuff.

Surf I'd got with 40# Samurai Braid (equivalent 8# diameter). Then just throw on a flourocarbon leader of whatever you're fishing for. I usually throw on a 10lb-12lb leader when targeting halibut.

I've used Power Pro but I don't like it for baitcasters because it's got a film that tends to stick and minimizes your casting distance (it's also kinda FLAT so it cuts into itself when reeled under pressure, like when you've got a big fish on).

My second favorite is Suffix Performance Braid. More economic and handles just fine! The reason I prefer Samurai is because it's thinner than comparable braids and it also casts SMOOTHER.

Good luck finding that braid!! Don't forget to stock up on flouro leaders too.

Thank you for the help. I use a mono leader with two bait hooks and a 2 oz. weight for the surf. I ususally end up with sharks or pompano when fishing with shrimp.

JB, or Izor. Power Pro does cast a country mile but its load and its life is not as long.
