| can anyone help a newb?
Hi, I'm still fairly new to bloodydecks and fishing in san diego. I've done majority of my fishing in the surf in central california catching a lot of barred surf perch. I know there are a lot of bass in teh bay and ive been catching plenty of shorts along the jetties and around mission bay. But i was wondering if anyone can help me out with fishing for some halibut around mission bay or sd bay. I dont have access to a boat so im just limited to spots along the shore. I know to many of you your halibut spots are your best kept secrets but if anyone can just point me in teh right direction i'd appreciate it. Any tips on what rig to use where to fish just any general info would help thanks. You can PM me as well. Thanks. |

harbor island. across the street from limburg field is a good spot for hali's and the DT's. you will have sucsess if you know how to drop shot with berkley gulp product.
they also have been catching some sculpin out there as well, not of legal size. be careful handleing those.
good luck to you.

That guy above posted a nice chart of Mission Bay with x's. One spot left out tho, if your fishing from shore, is the north side of the jetty going out of MB. Those rocks are loaded with Halibut especially a little later in the spring. I caught a lot of shorts there outa my boat, but also had a couple keepers and just misplayed to big buts that I lost after seeing color.
