Spectra or mono?

I fish out of Sand Diego, mostly Coronados or a little past when the fishing is good. I fish for the big yellows in the summer on the slow troll or the dodos and tuna when they're close. I have the following reels and would appreciate any help on what type of line to put on them. I want to use spectra with a mono top shot or for the type of fishing I described, should I use just mono?
Accurate 665 1spd, Avet hx 2spd, and Shimano tn40.

I filled my 665 to the top with 400 yds of #80, I would probably do the same with the hx.

For slow trolling live bait locally on a private boat, I think mono is still the way to go. I do use spectra backing on my big game reels, but even these have 150 yards or so of mono.

Spectra can be very useful when bottom fishing in deep water, due to its thin diameter. It will also allow you to get lots of line on a relatively small reel. When party boat fishing, the thin diameter of the spectra when used with a short mono or flouro top shot will allow a live bait to swim more naturally. This can be very helpful when using heavy line. But if you are slow trolling your bait on your own boat, this will not be much of an advantage.

Many anglers on this board will disagree with me, and that's cool. Take everyone's opinion for what it is worth and decide what is best for you.
