Fishing San Clemente Island

I am headed out to San Clemente Island for roughly 90 days and had some questions for fishing there Jan-march. What fish should I expect to catch? I figure the Albacore, Yellow Fin, yellow tail and Dorado have already moved on to warmer waters. My other question is what sort of set-up should I take out there (# test, jigs, plastics, etc)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Done a ton of fishing out here, but never from San Clemente Island.

20 lb set up, lots of plastics for calicos and some heavier lead heads to fish the bottom for dinner. Bring some iron for the Yellowtail a rapalla or two could be fun to troll around.

Yes, we are working with contractors out there to finish a large concrete road (SHOBA). We are Navy Seabees and are not permitted to leave and head back to San Diego on the weekends. Yeah I know its probably going to be a bit boring for 90 days without leaving.

20# is what I usually run anyways. Looks like I wont have to change too much stuff around. Hopefully the bite will be good over there. I am sure I will get into something decent in 90 days of fishing. Oh and working as well

I am going o have access to a boat, but will be fishing from shore a little as well. They say they take people out a few times a week for fishing so I'll be all over that. I was planning on bringing a bass rod just for the Calico's.
