Unfortunately a sign of the times. Fee increase of $3.00 an angler is rather steep but expected. The $5.00 fee has been around for a very long time.
@ least they are not talking about ceasing the trout stocking.

Fees to put your belly boat into a lake is now 10 bucks? That's doubled! Fuck that! I'll fish Jennings or other lakes.
Looks like they got us by the short hair gang. They know we are fucked in the salt, now the tapwater too.

If they would let a separate business run the programs they wouldn't have to do this. The city can't run shit efficiently..

Barrett's waterfowl hunting program remains, but fees will double from $10 for adult hunters to $20; $5 for a youth hunters to $10. Hunt reservations will jump from $20 for a blind to $40; and a motor for a boat will go from $23 to $46.
|
That would officially end me ever going to hunt Barrett again. That's $80 for 2 people for a half day hunt, $126 if you don't have a motor.

In the end, the council decided it would cost more to access the water but not the parking lot, following the recommendation of the mayor's staff.
Private boat launches will go from $5 to $7; kayak launches, from $1 to $2. Fishing fees will go from $5 to $8 for adults and from $2.50 to $4 for seniors.
Water contact sports fees will go from $5 to $10 for adults and from $2.50 to $5 for youths. Boat rentals will also cost more. Other changes set for the reservoir recreation program include the elimination of weekday boat rentals at El Capitan, Hodges, Miramar and Murray reservoirs and the elimination of phone reservations for boat rentals. How about the million people a year that enjoy the lake by going around it get to feel the pain too? Fuck this, I'm fishin the bay.

They should! Mirimar Lake on any weekend is jam packed but noone is spending just the handful of fishers.

I hear they are going to charge you to take a dump in the bathroom next!!!!
I hate to say it, but F-CA!
Just did a trip to Florida where you can fish anywhere and no one cares or charges your ass.....
I think the fair hike will cause even more people not to pay. Look at Miramar....
