Take an empty spool, wind line on it by hand. After just a bit of turns, say 10, check it out. See the line twist that has occured? That is exactly what your spinning reel is doing, worse when you turn the handle and gain no line as the previous poster said.
You might be able to let a large amount of line out behind the boat while traveling, no lure, no hook, and it
"might" take the twist out. This works good on mono, but I haven't had that good of results doing this with spectra because it has very little drag through the water.
The good news is the spiral and twisted appearing line have no strength decrease effcts with your braid.
