Flourocarbon Leaders

How long a leader do most use for under 40 lbs line? How well does the "seagar knot work? Is there a better only?

Thanks

I use a blood knot and about 20-25 ft. I like a few wraps of leader on the spool when the fish comes to color... just in case.

Seagar, leader about 3 - 4 feet or there abouts -

Sometimes I use a swivel depending on my mood

I really like it (seaguar). It's easy to tie, and easy to test. It's never failed over the last 3 years, but then again, I just use it for the dorado, as they seem to be the "spookiest."

Here is a link to tying the knot. I printed it and keep it with the flurocarbon. While it's easy to tie, since I don't use it in the winter I find I need to refresh my memory from time to time.

Like talltale said I like to get a few wraps on the reel when the fish is at the boat. I use 12-15ft. Although I have found that the fluorocarbon is not as tolerant of sharp shocks as mono. I started using the seagar knot this year as it is very easy to tie especially when out on the water. Most of the other knots are very hard to tie on a pitching deck. I have no complaints so far with the seagar. It casts well and doesn't hang up on the guides on retrieve.

3-6 with a double uni. I used to use the seguar knot but I now prefer the double uni. not that hard after you try it a few times

I like to use 3-4 feet of flouro and I've always tied with a surgeons knot. Simple and strong.
