| YT On Troll?
Guys, gonna head out this weekend if weather is good. I know to look for the paddies for the tails, but do they ever hit on the troll if you circle wide around the kelp? If so, feathers, rapalas, or what is best for em? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks!

They will but keep this in mind. Trolling around the target is last resort only.
Watch the drift and try to parrellel to soak bait whereas you do not shut off a bite that has yet to begin.
It's early in the season and you will find patience is your friend.

Macks or Rapalas also work sometimes. I am actually liking Yozuri's more and more than Rapalas.

Ive seen them hit feathers on a blind strike a handfull of times, but I think your best bet is some sort of rapala or slow troll around the patties with live bait. Just my 00.2 cense...

Cant tell you how many times the Tail is there, wont bite on a drift, so start slow trolling wide around the paddie with a sardine and wham what do you know... but seriously patience with the slow drift is preferred....
good luck to you and dont for get to report... looking at heading out maybe sunday...

Thanks, all. I think I'll try and troll feathers for bonies on the way out, as my kids and I had a blast with em a few weeks ago. They were hitting the Mexica fiesta feathers nonstop. When I get to the kelp Ill try the dines, and if no luck toss a couple sticks of dynamite and see what floats up (lol).

We have caught them on pretty much everything from raps to cedar plugs to feathers to marlin lures. You can pretty much try anything. If there are a lot of fish around the paddy they usually bite, it can be harder if only a few around. I remember a day when the bait pump crapped out and we limited out for six passengers and both crew without a single piece of bait on the boat, all trolled fish.
