I prefer to drift and chum for mako's (and saves on the fuel), troll for T's. Canyon outside of Oside and Cbad Canyon are both good spots.

For bait, I like to use cut bonita, and the more blood you can get in the water the better. I've even cut the tails off sardines and thrown them back in the bait tank to leave a blood trail when I've seen mako's finning and didn't have any chum.

You can catch makos using the same trolling techniques that work so well for threshers, but you will mostly catch smaller makos when trolling. The bigger makos are almost always caught while drifting with chum.

Drifting and chumming are the standard way for makos, although I like to troll for them. I get bored after a few hours of drifting. As far as the size issue goes, most troll caught makos ARE on the smaller side, but that is more of an issue with HOW most people troll for them, than whether large ones can be caught on the troll.

trolling works great for the smaller class makos. BOMs, rapalas and marauders work well.
