| A very very sad day
Randy Fry from the RFA was taken on Sunday in a great white attack. He was diving for ab's up north and taken from us in 12 feet of water. No body has been recovered so far. He was a friend of mine and a very important man that kept us on the water in the north when people tryed to remove us.
Just wanted to share with you all.
Dan

I am from Marin and have lots of friends who dive and surf...and a few have had run ins with white sharks up there. My condolences to the family...they will be in our prayers.

I too spent a lot of my youth diving along the NORCAL coast, from Monterey to the Oregon border. This is, unfortunately, Great White country. Knew a couple of guys who were attacked, one in Monterey, one at the Farallon Islands. Both managed to survive, but one lost a good chunk of his backside.
With the radical protection of the seal populations, their numbers have exploded and when you provide more food, you will get more critters. Law of nature.
It is always tough to loose friends, no matter how it happens. This is especially true of those providing services to the public, as now we all feel the loss. At least he died doing something I'm sure he loved doing.
This is, unfortunately, little consolation to family and friends left behind. It is always tough to have good people depart the physical world.
My condolences to both family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Dan~
So sorry to hear this! I know firsthand how hard it is to lose a very close friend to the ocean, time will heal bro so just hang in there K.
The ocean can give us so much peace and happiness and in a heartbeat can take it all away too.
I dont think there is a trip I go out on (even inshore) where the thought does not cross my mind that the possibility of something trully bad could happen.
I trully hope he suffered little to no pain.
Condolences to you and his entire family!
The unknown fisherman :p
