| Understanding Numbered Spots "302" "181" Good day all. I wanted to post a little tickler to the new people on here to help them understand these spots. Locally known as just numbers, many people associate these bad boys with GPS coordinates, when in reality there is an associated GPS coordinate with the "Numbered spot". It can get a little frustrating when you hear over the radio "slayin the Albies at the 302!" and have no clue where to go. A great site to start you off understanding where we are using our gaffs can be found here: S C M O - Hot Spot Table . Hopefully this will help. Phil
PS. I have added my waypoints for garmin units. Feel free to open these points up in mapsource and load them to your units. Tight lines and see you out there.

Many people go right to the highspot of the "302" when typically the better fishing can be found on the edges that lead up to the bank and ultimately the hi point of the bank..A good ff/gps will show the edges of the banks and is an invaluable tool in hunting down the pelagics..Not to mention being a member of Fishdope!!!
It is also funny when they say they are biting at the 302 and ask for numbers and they just say come on over you can't miss it...Have you ever seen the size of the entire 302/Kidney bank..it has to be something like thousands of square miles on that thing..

You can meter those high spots? I've never picked them up. Then again I'm not sure if I've stopped right over the peaks.

If you have bluecharts they are done for you. Or a good ocean surface map. All companies from Garmin to Lowrance offer these maps for extra money. Comes in very helpful understanding the layout of the bottom. Just remember, make sure your device can handle the maps, would hate for you to buy um and your device won't support bluecharts. (There is a way around this too FYI)

Wow I'm sorry to know that not everyone on here is as cool as one would like. I didn't see a post like this and thought it would be helpful considering I have been seeing some posts out there asking for it. I can burn it up if it's going to create crapulent, burnt burnt out, smart ass responses. I'm not on here to be tested.
