The unknown fisherman | I understood that he was jumping in the water to do this. I also understand that spearfishing for swords is not allowed under DFG Regs. This is just second hand info, but I have no reason not to believe it. I'd never even consider it myself.

Saw a huge one, easily 7-8ft between dorsal and tailfin, surface-tailing somewhere while chugging home between San Nic and Santa Barb last October.... they taste great, but I'd personally have a problem taking such a beautiful and scarce beast out of our local waters.... that sized fish is laying all the eggs....

Wow, after reading all this. My heart is PUMPING...and I'm up in Ontario, Canada lol I can only Pray I get the chance to target one of these in the near future.
ps...funny the night fishing thing is being sooooo hammered at. That's the only consistant method I have heard for them, EVER, in the 20 years I have been studying fish and fishing.
I love your info Fred, and understand everything about not giving certain info away to the public. I do it here with a certain few fishermen. If we let out the cat in the bag, we'll get 200 peeps in a area the next day. F THAT.
