My buddy and I baited on on the surface on Sunday for no love. We were maybe 10 Miles SW of Anacapa. this is twice I've baited a billfish during the day...and they've told me to go stuff it.

The Tuna Jihad will begin fishing swords at least once per week for the next couple of months. We'll be trolling for them.

I'll make sure to post reports. Stay tuned.

Thanks guys. I think I have dropped about $1k on gear and a 2nd downrigger already.

This doesn't include 50w's, flying gaffs, harness, etc...

Not for a the faint or heart or wallet.

I'll make sure to post reports.

Maybe one will even have a fish in it...

Swordies keep popping outside of LJ around 12:30pm. Mackeral bank around 10am. Sword boats are all around the 152 on a dirty water break.
Fishing for them in dirty water is easier than in clean water. They can't see very well while on the surface. The dirty water makes it easier to sneak up on them before you shoot them with a speargun.

We landed a sword near the 390 last June just before dawn. We didn't weight it but I would guess around 90lbs. It took a deep diving Rapala while trolling for tuna. First and only sword I have caught. I would never target swords they are to rare and don't taste as good as yellows or tuna.
