Yesterday my buddy and I went aboard the San Diego out of Seaforth. Started off with a couple of Bonita's and then did some bottom fishing. I was set on the yo-yo and wouldn't stop. The captain saw that many of us were doing so so decided to go looking to where the yo-yo would be most effective. After about 20 min. of looking the Captain told the deckhand to start chumming. I knew it was on.....

26 Yellowtail later of 22 plus pounders we were on our way back home. I caught 4 and my buddy 3. Just an epic trip for November fishing at the islands!:jig:

Got on the 3/4 day boat San Diego yesterday with 4 other friends to go get some fish. Figure it might be bottom critters with some bonito thrown in and maybe a yellowtail. We were rewarded with 26 yellowtail for 13 passengers. They were a nice grade of yellowtail too! Of other note a real nice sandy was boated also. We had 3 good stops with most caught on yoyo iron.

Fished with Herbert today trying to find some kind of bite pattern for Mikey's tourney.

Launched at 7:30 and headed south. Pounded heaps of sand from 25-95 feet for one short. Called it a day at 3:30.

Conditions were nice with some wind, 63 degree water, a strong downhill current, and a good ground swell.

Oh well...........we had a fun day on the water together and Lina made us some killer bacon egg and cheese breaky sammies.

Maybe we'll catch another flattie someday. Herbert asked what they looked like "are they still flat?" :Exploding_Smiley:

went out hooping, dropped in a sabiki rig to try and get some fresh mackeral to use as bait. Wasnt really paying attention to the sabiki rig but when i pulled it up and looked, every single hook had literally been bit in half???!!! what the hell could have done that?

No luck on lobsters out of newport AGAIN. still seeing a lot of commercial traps so they must be there. gonna keep trying. Also no mackeral! weird night, no other boats, no moon, very eery. tried a couple different spots. swells were coming in so we stayed in a bit deeper water. since we couldnt find the mackeral out there, we had to settle for some pretty shitty lobster bait.

what the hell do i have to do to get bugs around newport?
losing patience but still not giving up.

I liked the way the conditions were looking lately and had not been on the water in a week. I got out of work and headed for the launch. Incoming tide made for a LONGGGGG paddle out to the spot. The bugs didn't want to play at first. Then after a couple hours they turned on. Some good pulls and then all my bait was about chewed up. Just bones in the cages.

Talked to a couple bd'ers on the water last night and enjoyed another stoagie. :smoking33: Great conditions with no wind and pleasant temps. the tide made for a nice paddle back.

Finished the night around 9pm and headed for the beach. Lots of just shorts (Clickers) last night. I did manage a few keepers though.:D

Thanksgiving dinner here I come. Steak and lobster. Tired of doing the same old turkey thing for Thanksgiving.

I went out solo today for a few hours. I fished the rocks around the San Clemente Pier, not much to report just the usual blue perch bass and other junk. The water was grease calm all day and so clear you could see the garibaldi on the bottom in 32’ of water. I came across this buoy just off of the pier, anyone know what the Wheeler Kelp Project is? The new timed faucets are now working at the Dana Point wash rack. Only half of the stalls have them the other half of the stalls don’t have any faucets anymore, all of the old plumbing has been removed. You have to push the button every 5 minutes to keep the water going, it’s no big deal. 10 minutes would have been better. It’s a pain in the ass when you’re in the boat and the water times out and you have climb out to hit the button again. Hope fully they’ll replace the missing faucets at the rest of the stalls.
