Had a little accident with one of my bait mold. My dumb ass dropped the clay bait and it broke in two pieces. I am putting it back together with superglue and mending it back into shape. Started this one Saturday late afternoon and spent a good three hours on him today to finish the details. This bait is a little ticker up front than the other 8" big lip bait I made last week. I made the tail a little longer and thinner, Gave him smaller 3/8" eyes and some smaller lips. I will be working on the mold boxes tomorrow and will post up some pictures once I pour em in a day or two. I think this one will be a hit for the LMB and Calico's. I wanted to ask if someone could please point me in the right direction in regards to creating lead inserts for resin head lures.
I am a little confused on how the process of getting the copper tube though the lead insert would go. I also wanted to ask if the best route would be a cast iron melting pot? and some lead ingots?
any suggestions on what to use to get my insert shape?
Any advise would be highly appreciated.

Used the drill press and belt sander. Total time for the three was about 3 hours. Polished two only. Weights are... I made three Aluminum baits for a buddy that runs a charter off the East coast.

Polished two only.
Weights are 2oz, 3oz and 4.
I saw some similar stuff a while back, i was in a bind and the material was there.
I'll know by Friday if they work.

Seems like the freshwater guys want a big bait for the LMB so I grabbed the clay and started to mold one up. I know there are much larger baits out there that they use in da lake. I started him last night and finished the detail this evening. I will have the 9" and the 7" baits ready for the mold box tomorrow, and Sunday I will pour a few so you guys can check them out. This 9" bait has a big head so I think it's going to be pretty easy to insert a good size weight inside the bait. Let me know what you guys think of the bait. Till next time gang.

This guy is full of scales and I thinned out his tail a bit. The flat part of the bait is the top but I think he looks better flipped upside down. Hope we try for some calico's. But with the calico counts down here in Oxnard I think it is going to be a rock fish trip. Well I will see if these get bit. I found some of those cool lead head at a tackle store in Ventura so going to give them a try. There is also a picture of the larger bait and Peewee the little round headed guy. But was looking forward in coming home to check on the four new molds that I poured last night. These are the first pours on the new baits. I poured them all in... Hello gang another long day at work. But was looking forward in coming home to check on the four new molds that I poured last night. These are the first pours on the new baits. I poured them all in the rainbow trout color as you can see. I think they all came out pretty good. I know all three of the smaller baits will swim true. The one I have to test is the large 8" trout. Need to buy some wire tomorrow and try to rig the large bait with Capt G's internal wire harness. I am also going to try several different hook placements to see what is going to work best for this guy. Well gang let me know what you guys think of the baits. Till next time.

One is set up for a 3/4 and 1 oz lead heads and the other is a bit thicker and is set up for a 1 1/2 to 2 oz lead heads. I... Hello gang here are a couple 5 1/2 inch swimmies I have been working on. One is set up for a 3/4 and 1 oz lead heads and the other is a bit thicker and is set up for a 1 1/2 to 2 oz lead heads. I removed a couple of leadhead and matched them up to the baits for a perfect fit. I also am leaving the leadhead indent in the head of the baits for easy hook set up. You will see the round indent in the picture. These will be my go to calico baits I will use most of the time. Stay tuned in for the finished pours. I have been under the weather for the last couple of days so trying to take it easy in order to heal up. Here are a few pictures of the baits. Till next time.

It's about 8 inches long and has a logo epoxied onto the belly.
It says Shinn' Pen 190.
Someone tried to get me to copy this lure and his story was that it was made by a now defunct company.
When I asked if I could post pics of the original with the new he didn't want me to.
Something fishy and it stinks.

i told some i'd post a rtv recycle how to so i dug up one of my mistakes.

this was one of the first molds i made about a year or so ago. i probably thought i was super smart at the time, my mold was taped up and i saved on a bunch of clay. :oinker:
