They both hooked up on a couple of Black Marlin , one pushing 700 LBs. , a few YFTs in the 50 to 70# range and tons of Dodos , there was a reed line about a few miles long that stayed on the same spot for a few days , it was holding Dodos like crazy , they brought back 2 coolers full of Dorado and Tuna filets to Texas , they certainly got to used the awesome array of Custom Rods they brought with them , they even brought a Custom Gaff for Capt. Sergio , unfortunately the rain made it difficult to take photos , here is few pics. that was taken during rain break. www.panamasportfishinglodge .com

a world traveler , he have fished all over the Globe and wanted to try out his tackle in Panama , the water was a little bumpy this week cause by the Tropical Storm that went thru , unbelievable amounts of Dorados , they spent most of the time trying to get them away from the bait , a few good size Bull over 50# range , also a few small YFTs , Cuberas , Mullet Snapper , they encounter some Big Blacks in Hannibal Bank but just lookers , the guys went fishing while the girls enjoyed the various Tropical island beach we have nearby at the lodge , they also took a day off from fishing and toured the mountain areas near the lodge ,enjoy the pics.

We got 23 huge dorado in the boat today. The customers wanted some fish to bring home and they brought three ice chests...the pressure was on. But within 5... Because we were so loaded with fish! We got 23 huge dorado in the boat today. The customers wanted some fish to bring home and they brought three ice chests...the pressure was on. But within 5 minutes out there we had our first hook up. We were fishing really close too, at only 13 miles. We followed that by a double and then a triple hook up. I think during the day we trolled about 30 minutes total and spent the other 8.5 hours reeling! We would get the Dorado up next to the boat and then throw some pitch bait for his buddies. The next one would hit and then run. When we got him close we would do it again! Later on in the day we got a 5 hookup and got all five in the boat. And that was only with two customers. Lots of action. We ended our day on a high note, by hooking up with a big 50 pound fish fighting it for 51 minutes (on a Tiagra 50) and topping off the last ice chest. We headed in a little early, having accomplished our goals. Here is a picture of our big one, our 5 hookup and one of the triples.

November is finally here and Sailfish season is officially under way! We went out today and around ten hooked up with these two at the same time. We ended up hooking another one and two Dorado before turning in. This is only the start of the sailfish season here. It peaks in January and is great all the way until the end of April. The guy on the left said he had always watched people catch sailfish on TV and this had always been a dream of his. His wife surprised him with this trip, and he was so excited when we hooked the fish. It really made my day seeing how happy he was when he saw the sailfish start jumping. The fish were honestly about the same size, but his turned on me for the photo. Fisherman I am, photographer I am not... We had a ton of fun today!

We have fished extensively in Baja, (and inshore in Xcalak Mexico and Belize). Our plan is to spend 2 weeks, with a week... Our plan is to spend 2 weeks, with a week or so of sightseeing and week of fishing.

I have been checking the web and it seems the fishing is pretty expensive. I am not cheap (OK THAT cheap), but the lodges seem to be around $4000-5000 per person per week of fishing. I like to fish, but $9,000 for the 2 of us to fish for a week is pretty steep.

I am not that interested in billfish, but would really like to catch some AJ, roosters, cubera etc on Jigs or poppers if possible.

Any thoughts?

We're looking at heading down to Costa Rica and I'm trying to figure out better places / areas to stay at for my family. I will have my 3 and 6 year old daughters with us.

I'm also looking at doing a day trip for Sails. I've wanted to land one since I can remember and if I'm going down there, I'll be taking a trip.

Right now we've looked at resorts in Playa Tambor and in Puntarenas as well as Jaco Beach and as far north as Liberia. So we're obviously open to location but do any of these destinations offer some decent sail fishing?

When's a good time to go for calmer seas and catchs.

Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

Here is a great letter from my buddy from Florida Jon Bean, AKA "Juan Frijoles". We got into a weed line about 12 miles off the coast and lost count of the "schooled" Dorado we hooked and released. All are from 5 to 20 pounds and the best eating you can imagine. Glenn Oclassens cilantro and lime marinade is fantastic, thanks' Glenn! We kept the ones in the picture as most were bleeding. If your getting cold wet and need a break now is the time to come down. The season starts now from to late April.
