This year we are doing something new at this awesome event, overnight RV and tent camping etc. on Fri. night 2/5/10.. We... This years Lake Poway Youth Fishing Derby will be held on Feb. 5th and 6th. This year we are doing something new at this awesome event, overnight RV and tent camping etc. on Fri. night 2/5/10.. We are doing this due to the long lines of anglers in cars that develope on Fri night. and Sat. morning. We are also going to have fish taco's provided by Tommy Gomes of Catalina Offshore Products and hot dogs starting at 3:00pm Fri night and it's all free. We are also going to have a seminar on how to win the Lake Poway Youth Derby Hosted by Mike Long, John Kerr and Capt Ron and a raffle just to kick this awesome event off starting around 4:30pm. Bring your rods and reels and get them rigged for the Sat. morning derby. The Fri. night event is open to all anglers whether you overnight camp or not. There will be a $5:00 parking fee for those who camp and the gate will be closed at the lake for overnight camping at 7:00pm. There will be a raffle for the boats sat. morning and that will take place 5:30am the day of the event and you can get your tickets at the gate when you come in Fri. night or Sat. Morning. Last year's 1st place prize was $1500.00. Come and enjoy - make your reservations with us. Must have fishing license and entrance last year was free. More news will be posted as we get the info.
