I have the yard picked up and the all four garages... After a couple days of getting ready for the Nor Easter here in Poquoson Virginia and a couple days of cleaning up, I am ready to go fishing. I have the yard picked up and the all four garages cleaned up. Luckily only about 18 inches in the garages and none in the house. You can see the water line in some of the pictures.

My neighbors boat overturned then totally flipped over. I dove in on Sunday, put some lines on it and we were able to correct. Of course his engine was toast.

We lost power yesterday at around 1800 at the height of the storm. The wind was howling, the rain pouring and tide ripping in. Luckily I only had about 18 inches in the garages which was about 2 ft less tha Isabel. I should be able to get it all cleaned up tomorrow and everything put away by Sunday. I took a couple more pictures this morning as the tide was going out. Our power came back on around 1700 tonight.
The big crunch was at my parents house where a neighbor had parked their car thinking it would be safer than their own. NOT!! This big oak totaled it. My nephew, sister and I made quick firewood of it. After having lost over 120 trees during Isabel I am pretty proficient with my Stihl chainsaw. My parents neighborhood had several large trees down, a couple of them on houses. Here are some pictures from today. Hope everyone out there made out OK.

I stopped at Pop's Bait and Tackle in Hampton and bought some live Hermit crabs to compliment what fiddlers I had left. I ran home and dropped in "Ol Blue" my 1998 polaris ski, she still runs great and I averaged over 50 mph each way from my house in Poquoson to the 3rd Island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. A 46 mile round trip took a little less than 30 minutes each way. The Tide was perfect and slow and the bite was steady. I caught 8 fish in two hours and kept four 17"-19". I was fishing the first couple of sets of piles from the rocks in 12-20 ft of water. I was back home and all cleaned up by 1700hrs and just finished a fresh fish dinner. I took pictures with my older panasonic so they are not that great. There is not that much storage on the polaris compared to my Yamaha SUV. Someone abandoned the boat you see, not too far from my house, who knows where it will end up during the upcoming storm. Another great half day of jet ski fishing and I did not need to be towed this time.

It was the first time I have met Dan and Ed of Sea Tow, they were great. I am sure I was their easiest tow of the day. I have made over 160 trips in two years on this ski and it was my first tow, Guess I was due.
Now here is my fishing report.
I dropped at Willoughy Boat ramp in Norfolk at 0620 hrs to a beautiful morning on the Chesapeake Bay. I ran along Oceanveiw to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Casted some storms at the 1st Island and caught a couple schooly Striped Bass. I then headed to the 3rd Island and did some more casting and managed a couple 24-26 inches. After that I tried togging the rocks/piles of the third with live fiddlers it was real slow and I moved around several times until I sucked up my anchor line. I spent two hours this afternoon cutting the line off of the drive shaft. I do not think I messed up the bearing. Here are some pictures from today.

I decided to head to the Buckroe Fishing Pier in Hampton Va. for the Fishing for Food Foodraiser. I met some very enthusiastic Hampton Parks and Recreation ladies.They do a great job at the pier, it is the nicest and cleanest fishing pier I have been on.
Saw Matt of Bass Pro, Don Lancaster of Fishing Tidewater and Mark of Virginia Coastal Access Now. They were all helping out and offering tips on Pier and Surf Fishing.
I am sure this was a successful and fun event, I was only there for a couple hours. For those interested Buckroe Pier is having a Striper Tournament on December 11-13th with some great prizes. For info call (757)727-1486.

Trips have been few & far between but we have managed to fish the last few weekends. Brad my mate has been on vacation in North Dakota so I have had Capt. Jay Blount in the pit lately with the exception of last weekend when Jay blew his knee out so we made a swap & he ran the boat & I was in the pit. It has been a few years since I have had the chance to be there & I must say I enjoyed it. We had our first bite within 15 minutes of getting the spread out but it was not the bite I was expecting. The left flat came out of the clip & I picked him off pretty quick & we had our first Sail. We ended up the day with 3 Sailfish & a few Wahoo along with a few other species mixed in that is a catch I will take any day. Fishing has been good the last few weeks but then again it is November & it is supposed to be. The Kings have been very hungry just off the beach along with the Groupers which have been jumping on our deep baits. The bite should be good through November so give me a call & lets go do some catching. Just to let you know we are geared up & ready for the Bluefins we will be doing the same deal as last year $100.00 per man with a max of three. Give me a call for more info on these trips. My guess someone will catch one before Thanksgiving & then it should get in full swing until the end of January. The Tog bite was slow till around 1500, then the tide slowed and I managed 6 and kept 4 up to 19 inches. All caught on fiddler crabs. I also caught 4 Striped Bass with wind cheaters over the rocks at the third and fourth Island, Kept two around 21". Back at the Ramp at 1700 hrs. Awsome half day, Just had Striper for dinner. The weather has not been our friend this fall and it has kept me off the water more than on it.

I have been hearing reports of the good bad and ugly on the fishing but it is still the beginnings of the fall fishing.

I have heard of some reports of stripers from20-30+lbs and tog fishing from excellent to poor.

I was suppose to fish on Halloween but the weather man scared away the charter and I told them my hunch was to give it a try and needless to say my hunch was right but they opted out till another day.

I have been receiving calls and e-mails for trips from guys that just do not have enough to fill the charter.

Headed straight to Back River Reef and anchored up in several locations looking Tau Togs, we were using live hard crab for bait. Rob caught his first tog ever and Robert had his largest to date at 22". Total Togs caught were 8 six of which were keepers. Also had many many Osyter Toads, small Sea Bass and a Blowfish. Back at the dock around 1300 hrs. Thanks Barclay for putting us on the structure and fish. It was a treat of a day!

It was a little slopy, so I fished one of my favorite spots... I departerd Crab Creek Boat Ramp at Lynhaven Inlet today at 0700 and went straight to the Third Island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. It was a little slopy, so I fished one of my favorite spots that was on the lee side of the Island. I caught 7 Tau Tog using fiddler crabs, kept 4 at 3-5lbs. I then live baited with spot over the spine of the tube and caught 4 slot Striped Bass between 30- 32 inches and one keeper at 22 inches. On the way back in I saw a seal for the first time this season, I barely got a picture of him. It was a great morning with sporty 3-4 footers so I could only go 20-25 mph. Back at the ramp at 1300 hrs. Now I have fresh fish to eat while I watch My Debut on TV tonight.
