For the last 14 years me and the family have gone down to PV for fishing and some fun in the sun. This year my dad's bringing down his best friend and his wife. It's usually just my parents brother and uncle and one of my mom's gf's. The ladies don't fish but with 6 heads that wanna be fishing for atleast one day we need a boat a little bigger and comfortable compared to a super panga.

We usually port out of Los Peines and go out with Caesar Perez on the Tangaroa, who BTW is a hell of a fisherman. We've been on the Yamaica years ago and we put a slaying on roosters and dorado. Long story short, which boat yacht for six heads is gettin' bloody and runs a cheap (fair) rate.

It's been awhile. Marcelino and Caesar have been very good to us and we've fished em' in the tournament before and feel we owe our loyalty to the Perez family. Were thinkin' of Manny who sounds very nice who recently sent me a PM.

Thanks for any advice. How are the tuna biting at Corbetena right now, and where's the action goin down if you don't mind me asking.

A fire aboard the C’est la Vie fishing yacht, a contender in the 54th Annual Puerto Vallarta Marlin & Sailfish Tournament postponed the weighing in on November 13, as competitor's boats were prevented from entering Marina Vallarta with their day's catch.

In this exclusive video, Vallarta Fishing Experience host Stan Gabruk speaks to a C’est la Vie crew member about the Dorado that was salvaged and the Sailfish that was lost to the flames. Fortunately, the Dorado was weighed in time to qualify for the contest.

Be sure to watch the next episode of Vallarta Fishing Experience for more details and complete coverage of all of the excitement of the 54th Annual Puerto Vallarta Marlin & Sailfish Tournament, which took place from November 11-14, 2009.

I've been fishing down here for the last 13 years, before that I fished the Straights of Jaun de Fuca, and other Washington waters, for Salmon, Steelhead, Lingcod, Albacore Tuna, and Halibut, for about 40 years.

Mexico fishing is great, and most of the fish are good eating. Which is most important to me because I only fish for fish I'm going to eat. If I'm not going to eat them I not going to molest them, that's a philosphy handed down to me from my father and uncles. Of couse, sometimes I catch Rooster fish or others not of good table fair and release them. The same with Bass they are not my favorite food so I don't fish much for them, even though, I caretake a fishing lodge on Aqua Milpa. I'd rather eat the Talapia in the lake I can buy for 25 pesos a kilo.

Yesterday got back from a local Isla and caught a 50# Wahoo and 6 Dorado that should last us for a month or so. So I'll be at it next month for Roballo, Pargo, and Curvina.

Just for some others fish eaters information I have a list of my favorite food fish here in this area, in order of preferance: Roballo, Pargo, Wahoo, Sierra, Tuna, Sailfish, Dorado, Corvina, and maybe a Marlin but most are too big to for me to consume. But I'm thinking of building a large smoker because some of these fish are good smoked.

I'm not too keen on giving fish away as I like to know for sure they are going to be ate. I hate to see fish being killed to waste. Even catch releasers kill more fish than we can eat!!

I'm sure a lot of you will remember Kawi from fishing on the "Chelita" in Puerto Vallarta. I personally caught a cow that taped out at 389lb. a couple of years ago with him. See the attached picture. Not to mention lots of hugh marlin. Well, he is now running a 2006 28' Superpanga, "FUGITIVO". The boat has twin 115hp 4-strokes so you can get to the Banco or Corbetania pretty fast. He added a large bait tank that will hold approx. 150 Goggle-Eyes. The boat also has a helium tank for balloon fishing and has kites and four (4) tuna tubes. The boat is loaded with gear which you can use if you don't want to bring your own. He has Penn International 2-speed 50's and 30's, Shimano Tiagra 2-speed 50's, Shimano TLD 2-speed 30's and some smaller Shimano Trinidad's and Newell's. There are also a couple of Avet HXW 2-speeds as well. All the large reels are loaded with spectra and top shots of Blackwater fluorocarbon. The boat has a slip in the marina in Nuevo Vallarta or he can pick you up anywhere. There is also a beachfront condo for rent 100 yards from the boat slip. It's very convenient.

We'll everyone it's been a long summer. Glad the hot sterile water has

moved out and the nutrient rich water has moved in. I'm proud to fish with

some of the greatest crews I have ever fished with. Without them, these

trips will never happen. Thanks Mr. Jones, Brant and John for taking some of

the most amazing stills, and underwater photography I have seen.

The weather was flat calm, just enough wind to get the kite up and bait was

very easy to make. All the ingredients to make for a perfect weekend.

The tuna bit early and pretty much thru the day. Smaller grade tunas in the

60 to 130 range were eating the flylined cabbies. The larger grade ate the

slow trolled skippies on 200lb.

Enjoy the pics, John will have a video of the underwater footage coming any

day. Right John????

I was down for a few days fishing with my girl Regina in P.V. for a few days. I went fishing with Danny " LuLu" on his father in laws boat "Balta" the first day and caught a nice tuna in the upper 180's. We caught a few more Dorado and came home with the sun on our backs. I had Ryan "Salty" who works on Maximo as my deck hand for 3 days. Ryan was able to sneak out and pull on some fish for the first time this year. I can not say enough about how much this kid has become a seasoned Salty angler / deck hand. We had a great day one and my freezer was filled. The second day we went to the bank with Danny Osuna and Regina made her first appearance on the boat. We caught Tuna from 60-90 pounds on bullet Tunas on the troll. Regina did a great job on her first Tuna and had a great time on the water and in P.V. The last day things went slow at the Bank but we did end up with some nice Dorado. All in all it was a great trip and great weather. Thanks again to all my good friends in P.V. and in La Cruz! Until Next Time!

Hi
I have done a number of fishing excursions around PDC and Cozumel.
1) Unless in season trolling is an $80/ person boat ride.
2) You will get fish but only by bottom fishing(barracuda, snapper)
3) Best time for sails Mar- June. Also Dorado from Feb- June.

For the best experience go fly fishing, light tackle for bonefish tarpon and permit.

1) Pesca Maya- south of Tulum about 45 mins on sand road
- quantity of fish excellent, in my experience quality not so great
- wade or fish from boat
- 1.5 hr drive from PDC there and 1.5 back
- very pricey $450.00- $500 US per day 2 people
- Better to take fishing package for 1 week and stay in
fishing lodge

2) Cozumel - 1/2hr ferry ride from PDC. Earliest ferry is 6:00 AM PDC To
Cozumel
-wade or fish from boat ( panga)
- number of guides on internet
- I use ALEX EUAN (cozumel.net/flyfishing)
- $300US per 8 hrs ( 2 people)
- quality size fish (P.B. 8.4 lbs bone)
- english speaking professional guides
- lets you get off AI resort for one day at reasonable cost
- a really great experience
P.M. me if you have any questions. I will do best to answer

I will be in PDC from Nov. 15-22 fishing in Cozumel on 18th, 19th
