Fishing tournament for a great Guy

This tournament is for LongBoard Steve, He fishs Kayaks all over SD county, I have had the pleasure to fish with him, and He is a great Human Being. His son is one of the main guys that are killing the Yellowtail and WSB from the Yaks in LJ.

However Steve has been Diagnosised with a inoperable brain tumor. He is trying to spend the last months he has with his wife and family, and this tournament is to help in any way we can.

I'm in how about anyone else!!!

La Jolla Kayak Fishing- Steve Moyer
Benefit Kayak Fishing Tournament
August 30, 2003
Once again La Jolla Kayak Fishing is putting on what should be the premier offshore kayak-fishing tournament of the season.
We have two main changes from our past tournaments.

This year's tournament will be offshore only, to ease some of the logistical problems.
This year's tournament will be to help our good friend and fellow kayak angler Steven Moyer, who recently was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. $10 from every entry will go to Longboard Steve Moyer to help offset some of the medical bills that his insurance is not covering.
The tournament is open to all human powered vessels as well as paddleboards. No motors of any kind allowed.
The participants will meet and launch at the La Jolla Shores boat launch between 4:00am and 7:00am. Here is a map to the launch.
All entrants must register to be eligible for prizes. The cost of registration is $35 in advance or $45 the day of the event. $10 from every entry will go into the Steve Moyer Fund.
The Entry fee includes an event T-shirt and BBQ at the weigh in, and a tackle pack from Fishtrap lures, as well as entry into the Jackpot. The Jackpot will be divided proportionately between the winners. Trophies will also be awarded to the top three finishers as well as top female angler, and best-outfitted kayak, with a special prize for landing a La Jolla Slam; Yellowtail, White Seabass and Halibut.
The weigh-in will be back at Kellogg Park at La Jolla Shores starting at 12 noon with a deadline of 2:00 pm accompanied by a BBQ and prize giveaway.
The format of the tournament is largest single fish, so don't kill a bunch of fish just catch a big one. Sharks, Rays and Calico bass are NOT eligible.
Again this year we have arranged with A-1 bail bonds for the use of their fifty-foot fishing cruiser to be staged just outside of the La Jolla reserve. It will be loaded with live bait as well as drinks. We will also have use of their skiff to deliver bait to the kayaks or to transport fish back to the boat to put on ice.
All entrants must register and be present at the weigh in to be eligible for prizes. The cost of registration is $35 in advance or $45 the day of the event. For registration information call Jim Sammons at La Jolla Kayak Fishing (619) 461-7172, or use our contact form.
We had over 125 kayakers on the water last year and expect even more this year. We have some great sponsors lined up and like last year everyone will get something.
I look forward to seeing everyone out there again this year for a great time. As it looks to be a great season this year this tournament promises to be better than ever.

Cool Dude, wish I was younger and had a Kayak, sounds like a good event for a good cause, good luck on the tourny. Hope you have a good turnout.

No problem Bobby, you can use Deb's. I'll have the bait tank ready.
