16-14 AWG disconnects on 18-22 AWG wire?

Hey guys I have to crimp some 20 AWG wire for my furuno 620 power cord but all I could find were 16-14 AWG disconnects (fit my buss bar) in 4 packs. I only need 2. The 18-22 AWG disconnects come in 25 packs.

Is there any tricks, like folding the 20 AWG in half to thicken it up before crimping to the 16-14 AWG disconnect?

Or just bite the bullet and get the 25 pack?

Thank you, Todd.

These are the disconnects I'm talking about:

Your better off using the right butt splices but I have done what your saying. # 20 is awfully small wire to do that though. Solder and shrink tubing is another option. I have some of the 18-22 here but you're a hundred miles away!

25 pack sucks!! Did you check boater's world or worst marine? A buddy of mine gets his stuff from Fry's electronics. Maybe you could try a local electronics store.

Dean's got the scoop on connecting it! Tin, liquid electric tape, and shrink wrap...golden for years to come!!

there is a good reason they make them in lots of different sizes.....

use whatever you got for an "emergency" repair, but for an electronic installation, please acquire the proper size......

Now, my take on "cheating" on the size......

If you ever have an insurance claim, the insurance company is looking for any reason to deny liability. Lets say you had an electrical fire. Is the fog lifting?

anyway, yes, solder and shrink wrap (or painted tape) will work too!

Look at it this way Todd, you own a B.O.A.T. and will likely use them later. At least that's what I keep telling myself. I try and buy some sort of connector, heat shrink, wire, or other hardware on every trip to WM. It's paid off a time or two. If not on my boat, on a buddy's. I try and use only Ancor stuff on the rig because it really is far superior to the landlubber stuff. Also, when you factor in the cost of shipping, the 25 pack maks a lot more sense.
