Opinion on Furuno 6100Ls Sounder

Any input appreciated on a Furuno 6100LS monochrome fish finder...Thru hull Bronze transducer...worth messing with or not?...need something that works well is sunlight (under a bimini)...I know it is a little "old school" and that there are much better but I'm not too fussy about the latest technology.
thanks,

These are OK, but you can get a color FCV-620 for about the same price. IMO a much nicer unit.

I think you may the LS6100 confused with another Furuno unit. The monochrome LS6100 is around $270 discounted w/o xducer, the FCV620 is more like $660 w/o xducer.

I had an LS6100 for a couple of years, and think it is one of the best monochrome sounders you can get for saltwater use. However, I think the Lowrance sonars are better in fresh water.

I have a 4100 in the skiff with a P66 transom mount xducer. Same specs as the 6100 only a smaller screen. It is a great little unit for the $.

I would agree 100% - the Furuno is good for saltwater and the Lowrances are really good units as well.
