Garmin has the best charts I've seen.

No way the navionics charts on the raymarine are the clearest by far. Just installed a C80 and C120 for customers about 4 hours ago. Awsome units and by far the best screen out there. Again just my opinion and you know what they say about those!

Been playing around with the C120 last couple of trips, it kicks ass!
Was able to figure it out without looking at the instruction manual and it got us out and back without hitting anything

I looked at both and this is just my $.01. Raymarine has an absolutely day light visible screen. I've been at the stern and looked at my dash and saw what was going on. The digital depth sounder is supposed to be very good. I can't say for sure, since I just got mine wired up today along with the radom. As to charts, I was under the impression they all used the same information. I have a Garmin as a backup to my Raymarine C80 and I go back and forth without a problem. Radar, I still hear Furuno but you hear that about all their stuff. All my buddies use Furuno and are very happy. Some of them opt for Garmin GPS and the others use Standard. I liked the c80 partly because it was the largest screen I could fit in the dash of my boat. That was the final straw not the only consideration.

The down side is supposed to be the Raymarine stuff is said to not be user friendly. I'm new to this stuff and figuring it out has been pretty easy. For most stuff I just flip around the menu on the screen and can find it. If I can't figure something out, I look in the book. You might also look at the e series. That's the newer stuff but it's spendy. Good luck. I hope to try the radom and ducer tomorow.

How about the E series compared to the C series Raymarine? E80 has just been released. aprox $1k more but is it worth it?

I am looking to pick up one or the other this weekend

Furuno 7000 gps

I just installed a Furuno 7000 - This unit kicks ass! Very fast refresh when zooming. Screen is very bright and clear. Great panel layout and priced right $1200 w/o chip Also comes in a sounder model, 1KW for around $2200 .

The Raymarine C Series is going to have the best charts by far with the new Navionics Platinum charts. I have seen demos and the detail, bathymetric which is 3d, vector, and aerial is awsome. Also, the color on the Raymarine is better than the Garmin I think.
