gps problems

gps problems

Garmin gps and some times it won't pick up satalites. checked antenna and connection at back of unit, both seem to be fine! Any ideas?

My guess is that your boat goes faster than the signal.

They do go bad.

You can reintialize the set up to see if the software is buggered, but if it still poops, then I would call Garmin customer service.

I sent my bad one back to Magellin, they took what they wanted, then gave me 50% off of a new one.

unit is only 1 year old but antenna is 8 years old! I think I will start with garmin! Thanks!

Check the compatibility of the old GPS antenna with your newer unit..if the antenna is okay with the newer unit, check the version of the software that is on your gps...It may need updating...Ff you contact Garmin they will send out the update on a data card compatible with your unit. I think they may require a deposit on the data card. maybe check your unit here Garmin | Additional Software

If you run into problems I have an extra Furuno (dgps) you are welcome to use for the rest of the season.
