????? autopilot questions ????

i'm finishing up on my ap install. i have a couple of questions... where does the return hose run to? to the outlet right in between the port and starboard steering hoses, or in the outlet in front of the three? also on the hydraulic pump, which line is port and which is starboard? is the line closest in the picture starboard or port? or does it matter? the autopilot is a raymarine st8001 for a single outboard.

The return should be the bottom unused port with the R under it in the top photo. The P and S under the fittings indicate which way the boat should turn when that port is pressured so the P port should be the "turn left" side. I'm just guessing but I put my own SimRad AP in my Parker and it was relatively easy once I procured the hoses.

When you go to purge the system consider getting a long 1/4" hose that will reach from the bleed port on the motor back to the helm. Just spin the helm and pump the fluid from the motor back to the helm until there are no bubbles in the hose, just don’t spin too quickly. This works great and there is no mess. Power the pump with +/- 12VDC and do the same for the AP system. I use a screw in funnel on the helm and run the hose into it so the air comes out as the oil goes into the helm pump.
