I have a slightly used 582 that I am going to upgrade to from a Furuno 600. Currently running the basic transom mount ducer, Looking to install a bronze thru hull xducer and would like like to know what models you guys are using and how they have performed for you.
A bronze thru-hull on an aluminum boat will not work due to galvanic corrosion. It will eat the aluminum up in a hurry. You will have to go with a plastic or stainless thru-hull. Look at the airmar website. http://www.airmartechnology.com/airm...s/OpenData.asp
Hi MArk, I to am upgrading to a Furuno 582L. It will be here in a day or two, bought it on eBay. I plan to go with a transom mount Furuno/ Airmar 525 with speed and temp. There is a guy on ebay selling them for 113.00 plus shiping. CHeck em out. You need a 10 pin connect cable. I ahve been told that these transom mounts are as good as the thru hull. I hope so. Share your info with me as I have not yet purchased a xducer either. Those thru hulls are quite a bit more expensive. I have gone out on my buddies boat, he has a 525 xducer with a Furuno 585 finder on his CC Grady and the performance is great.
