Tamarindo, Costa Rica report- Marlin going off!!

Hey gang

Im new to this site and had some customers let me in on this site.
Im originally from Vista/Oceanside area in San Diego, California and have been living in Costa Rica for the past 8 years. I run a boat in Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica.

Here's a report for you.. and looking to keep posting everyweek so you can have the latest reports on what is going on in Northern Costa Rica..bite wise.

If any of you are looking for that Grand Slam on Billfish book a trip to Playa Tamarindo now! Its been going off for the past month and a 1/2 and looking like its gonna continue. Pretty darn good, everyday!! On average seeing 3 to 6 Marlin a day plus 5-15 Sails. There are Black's, Blues, and Stripy's around.... Dont wait, this season has proved to be the best in years up here in Northern Costa Rica!! I have been real busy this season fishing almost everyday since the 1st of the year and we have only had 2 days where we did not release a Marlin.. even though we raised em.

The water temp is perfect, and should hold til March.

Average day right now... yesterday we caught 2 Striped Marlin (raised 2 others), released 3 sails (raised another 10 plus), jumped off a nice Blue Marlin, and 4 Big Dorado in the 30-50lb. range..

And for those Tuna fans,, we have Yellowfin in the 300lb. plus range lurking offshore in the same fishing grounds.. you just have to stumble on the right pack of porpoise with tuna under them.

Feel free to contact me by my cell phone here in Costa Rica

Report

Would your report include the Los Suenos area also? I am going to be there Friday and stay for a week. How far are you from there?

Hey Adam,,,
Im still trying to put a trip together. A 3 night 4 day redeye flight trip.
We're gonna take another couple.
How is the fishing May 17 thru May 19.
Same as last trip, 1 day inshore, and 1 day offshore, is the Ocean Master available..??
Local fishing in the OC still sucks, just waiting for the white Sea Bass to hit then the Albacore...........

Hey Ted
May is a good month for fishing.. more Sails tend to move into the area, and of course there is always tuna and dorado around! Would love to have you back fishing 2 days again.. The weather is killer during may, a great month to fish right out in front of Tamarindo.. calm seas and great fishing! Let me know my friend

Ya the good ol' boys... Dave Mckage and Steve Gordy. Love to have a beer and talk fish stories with both of them.. Those guys are both in a class of their own. Fun to fish with too. Eat, sleep, fish, drink beer! Those two truly love to get the decks BLOOOODY!!!

Man, been fishing off close to Guiones alot lately, in your neck of the woods.. Been finding some good groups of porpoise offshore there waay outside. Had some great Sailfish action lately out of the 50 line. The other day we found some spinners with giant tuna boiling(250lbrs.) and a freekin Spotter Helicopter showed up and pressed down hard on the school! Was a total bummer, they kept scaring the pack of porpoise and tuna, and we couldnt get the big ones to take any baits because of it. What was even worse, was the fact that a Purse Seiner showed up right after we found em and wrapped the entire ocean up!! Wiped out the tuna... this stuff needs to be stopped..
But, been getting a shot of Marlin everyday still. Starting to see some Dorado back offshore again... hope to cross paths with you out there.

Adam,

I heard you were down there. It's the other Adam (P.) from V-town. I was down there in February staying in Playa Negra. Didn't know you were there until recently. It would of been nice to catch up on ol' times as rats at Beaumont. I loved CR. Hopefully back next year and we'll hookup.

Later bro

Adam,
I am arriving in Costa next week. I am staying at
Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica

How far is that from where your at. If that is to far. Can you suggest anyone in that area that fishes offshore for Dorado, Wahoo, and mostly Tuna? I would like to book all day offshore trip.

Thanks in advance
