Summer is upon us down here in CR. The birds are back, bait, and clean water.
Here is a short recap of my week, Each day. Fished the giant holes on the beach break during incoming tide as the water filled in the massive holes. Approached it So Cal beach style style Carolina with crak/gulp. Had a good bite on Grunt fish 10+. They are kind of shy and were tapping and hard to hook, never rip, always tap tap tap.. I think of them like our Yellowfin Croaker but the Grunts don't rip you like Croaker.
Next day same approach on a lower out going tide. Pompano and the right size Snook for Pescado Entero... I was on speed retrieve at the very tail end of my cast and one boiled on my bait at my feet and stuck.
Huge bait bails were tight to the beach like 200 yards out one evening. Looked good for long board fishing. Went out with my bro and a lifeguard. Allot of Sierra around so I threw the Krock and Yozuris because the Sierra shred the soft plastic and they seem to stick much better on the Krock or Yozuris, I prefer soft plastic fishing. Harder to pin Sierra on soft plastic too because of they way their mouth is designed. My bro was throwing a 5" Hammer on my heaviest spinner I have which is 8#

. Only casting rod I had that would not backlash but tied 20# leader. He started to get smoked and spooled. Ended up towing him 1 mile north of the river mouth. He got the fish. Big aged mature jack on the 8# with leader. It was really cool. Jack and Sierra thick off the beach.
Our river mouth just started packing Giant Ocean Snook. Average grade 10+lbs. Every year kicks out many fish over 50lbs. I'm amped I want one over 60lbs the fish is there. . You target them on medium outgoing or low incoming. You want to fish it while the water is rushing OUT of the river mouth not dead water or filling. It still flushes out during incoming until about 2.5 hours before high tide. Started throwing shad style lead head plastic and the power of the waves is just too much for the jig to track straight in this type of surf and it was small but power, 2' waves SPIT, seriously. It gets pushed around and bellies in the line no matter how fast I grind the TE300. Local showed me the Plumeros. Like a buck jig with grub trailer. This styled lead head tracks super straight and true in the surf. Like a torpedo and does not get knocked around it just tracks.... Struck out in the morning but the guy that I was learning from taught me some stuff and he hung 4 and landed 2 right next to me largest looked about 25lbs. Went home looked at the SPRO bucktails I got from Noahs after Saluki, Curt, and Heatherlynn had that big C-bass on one tipped with squid. Went to the hardware store and bought the red tails, red red red is the color . Went back for the evening. 2nd cast got bumped. Son of a bitch. Fired the jig right back to the spot which was a edge of cobblestone dry island. Thud Snook fly's out of the water. I'm going to do this every day.

. I got some styles of jigs in mind but they are not in CR so I got what I got.
Got the pics up.....
